Incels and outdated

Image
Hello, lovelies.         For as long as history has been recorded the role of women has, for the vast majority, placed front and centre - in the background. They were the assigned home makers, housewives, mothers and wives. We hear thought snippets of recorded history that some women rebelled against the constraints of this yoked mantle. But it never ever ended well, just think of the medieval witch trials. Whilst other women kept to their places in the homes and the preverbal kitchen sink. Were they happy with their lives? Safe under the protection of their fathers and husbands? Was it safer for women, in actual living memory, to have mortgages and loans counter signed by their male representatives? Is it a myth that women have the right to their own life and body autonomy? What about their own reproductive rights? Who should have the final say about that? Is it the right of every man to have access to a women’s body, even if she does not consent? Are women on...

Hands off!

Hello, lovelies.       With every year that passes, we march ever forward towards our uncertain futures and away from our unchanging pasts. Music has changed. Our food choices have changed. Fashion has… well… fashion is ever changing. But most importantly, our understanding and expectations have changed. Gone are the days of women being tied to the kitchen sink. Men being the sole breadwinners, spending the weeks hard earned cash down the pub on a Friday night out with the boys. It's now socially unacceptable to wolf whistle as a pretty ‘lady’ walks down the street. Life is a million miles away from just our parents' generation. But is that a good thing? Or were we all better off when we all knew our places and what we could except from our lives? Or should we be bashing down the outdated and dangerous attitudes and saying that no most definitely means no!         Waking up this morning was not an easy task. I was up super late last ...

On the tip of my tongue.

Image
Hello, lovelies.         We all have those moments when the word we’re se desperately searching for is on the tip of our tongue, but we just can’t remember it. Or that name, pin number or password is so close to mind, and then… poof! Gone, never to be remembered. And what of all those things that are supposed to be gone, sayings from a time gone by. What happens if we say something that is now frowned upon? What if someone has changed their pronouns, and no matter how hard we try, we can’t seem to say the right thing at the right time. Is it ever okay to say something and hope for the best? Is it ever alright to say what is on the tip of our tongues? Or is it time to move on and strive for so much better?       I am known for not always saying the right thing at the right time. So many times I will tell someone something, and the second I say it, realise that they were not the person I should have said it to. Or, and I have done this more than anyone ...

Freedom day, at what cost?

Image
Hello, lovelies.      Today marked the first day of our freedom against Covid. It was delayed, put back and was seriously debated as to whether or not it should happen in the first place. But it’s here, at long last. We waited patiently. Wore our masks over our mouths and noses, and collectively laughed at all the anti mask Karen’s and Chad’s as they fought and argued against the tough restrictions that this pandemic has brought us. And here we are. Free. Free to do whatever we want, whenever we want. It's great, right? No? Why not? Aren’t we now free to go back to the way it was before? Why then does it not feel so freeing? Why does it feel like we are all heading for a big fall? Is it we, the people, who are free? Or is there only one person who freedom day is actually for?         Waking up this morning, it would be hard to say that the world feels different. Nothing has changed, apart from the brand spanking new freedom day that greeted us. We...

Down the rabbit hole

Hello, lovelies.        What are your thoughts on Big foot, the Illuminati, deep state, the New world order, the Chinese virus hoax, Trump really winning the 2020 elections, 9/11, Roswell, a flat Earth– the list of well-known and documented conspiracy theories just goes on and on. But is there really any truth to any of them? Or are they just the delusions of scared and ever so slightly paranoid individuals? Without any actual proof, how would we ever really know if any of these theories are true? With no tangible evidence, why do these outlandish and downright dangerous beliefs refuse to go away? And what of the people who truly believe everything that can be dreamed up? Is believing in these theories harmless? Or is there a very high price to pay?         Typical for our British summer time, I have decided to slim down the contents of my house, load it all into the boot of my car, wake up at an ungodly hour on a Sunday morning, all so I co...

Scratch the surface

Image
Hello, lovelies.           From birth to about the age of eleven, kids are usually all the same. Same hair styles, same school uniform, same favourite TV shows and the same set of values that they all derive from attending the same schools in the same communities. But from then onwards, kids start to develop their own opinions. Form their own sense of values and beliefs. But fundamentally they are all the same. Aren’t they? Are we all born with the basic understanding that we are all part of the same human race? Or is that all an unrealistic dream that the liberals and the woke are trying to push? Will there ever be a time that we can all stand together as one nation. Or, if we just scratch the surface, we reveal the hatred underneath.        Growing up I always thought that everyone I met was just like me. And to a certain degree they were. At about eleven years old, my friends and I all loved running home after ...

People like me

Hello, lovelies.       Cast your mind back. Do you remember the time at school, being called into the career advisors office, to have that chat about what you wanted to do for a job when you finished your education? Back when you could be anything you wanted to be, as long as you worked hard enough. Did I want to be a doctor? A vet? A famous actor? Or was it okay to have no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life? It’s a very big decision for a young child to make. Once you state your career goals, are you ever able to change your mind? Go off in a completely different direction. And find happiness doing something you never imagined you could or would ever do. Or are you stuck in the rut of your very own childhood making? Can we rise above our stations in life and dare to dream big? Or are we destined to have the same little lives and dreams that we thought would make us happy so long ago?       From my earliest memory, I have always known ...
