Karma come, Karma go

Image
Hello, lovelies. It would be easy to say that many of us have had an experience in our lives that could have had a disastrous outcome, if it wasn’t for the hand of Karma stepping in and lending a hand. But does karma actually exist? Is there really an all-knowing sense of right and wrong that steps in when ever we are short changed? Does the saying, you reap what you sow, hold any truth? What goes around, will it really come around? Is there really such a thing as karma? Or is it just a way to hope that people really do get what they deserve? I’m not normally known for my belief in karma. I mean, really! Who is to say what good things should happen to another human being if they behave badly? But this just might have been the week to prove me wrong. Now, I have always tried to keep out of anything that doesn’t involve me, but as I was out shopping, and I found myself being pulled into a very unexpected situation. I needed to get some food for the week, so I packed up my car ...

5. 4. 3. 2. 1 and go!

Hello, lovelies. Have you ever had that week? The one where everything seems to go wrong. And not only wrong, but expensively wrong. How can just the 5 days of one week be so hectic? Is it just me? Am I doomed to awake on a Monday morning and end it on a Friday evening exhausted and even more poor than I was when started the week? Is this how my life is headed? Or does this finally mean that I am an adult? Is life all about the things we have to deal with? Or is it all about the little things in life? I don’t know about you, but the older I get the more I see that the things I once wanted and planned for, no longer hold the same appeal. My dream of living in the heart of one of the greatest cities in the world. To be surrounded by people from all over the world, all bringing their cultures, languages and histories. To be able to turn on my television and be able to watch what I want when I want. How can that not be seen as the pinnacle of a person’s life? I can travel all over...

Gone but not forgotten

Hello, lovelies. Yesterday we learnt of Prince Phillips passing at the age of 99. And although most of us have never met him, we can all agree that he was an iconic member of the historical Royal family. And love him or hate him, he was always there. And as our nation mourns, we can all relate to the loss of someone we love. Does death really mean the end of someone? Is it the end of who a person was? Or in this digital age, are our every moment recorded for anyone to see who we were? Or does a person never really leave us if we remember them? I was at work yesterday when I heard the news about Prince Phillip. And I have to say that I was a little shocked. I know that he had reached a grand old age, but the death of anyone is a sad thing. Death is always so final. Knowing that you’ll never be able to spend time with the person who’s gone. Never again to be offered a cup of tea by them. They’ll never be at the end of the telephone when you need to talk to them. They’re just ...

Happy Easter, everyone!

Hello, lovelies. Today is a one of the highest Christian holidays. A day of joyous celebrations and breaking of the fast or sacrifices of the past 40 days. But what now? What have we got to look forward to now? And with Easter being a Christian holiday, what about the rest of the secular world. Is today all about chocolate? Or is there something for everyone on this sunny day? I don’t know about you, but the Easter Bunny has just been to my house. I may now have more chocolate Easter eggs in my house, that is ever possible to eat. But I’m going to give it a very good go. We’ve just finished our Easter roast, no mean feet as there is one vegan, one vegetarian and two meat eaters living under my roof. Not to mention my two dogs that are desperate to ‘join’ us in our meal, but sadly they’re both on a diet, so no scraps for them. Cue sad puppy eyes staring at me. But the thing holding the meal together was the mountain sized dish of roast potatoes. And after polishing off a mere t...

What's so good about it?

Hello, lovelies. Today is widely regarded as a day for reflection. A day of quiet contemplation and prayer. A day where we can stop what we’re doing and think of all the sacrifices we’ve made, and plan for the year to come. But should we only be stopping to think for such a short period of time? Is Good Friday really all that good? And haven’t we all sacrificed so much already? What can this day really tell us about ourselves? I don’t know about you, but Lent has zoomed by so quickly, that we are only a few short hours away from the Easter bunny delivering all those lovely Easter eggs. And I wondered why it is only around Easter that we’re encouraged to stop and be reflective in our lives. Why is Easter all about chocolate eggs? And does this traditionally Christian holiday have a message for everyone, regardless of faith? And what really is so good about Good Friday? Well, Good used to mean Holy, and the Holy Friday lead to the resurrection of Jesus and his victory over deat...
